Gallant Farms

Step back into the 1930s at Gallant Farm, a Depression-era farmhouse and park.

Gallant Farm is a recreation Depression-era Farm that vividly captures the 1930s and early 1940s. The beautifully manicured grounds have three barns, a farmhouse complete with a garden, and a fishing pond. The barns are stocked with period farm equipment and a classic car, a 1940 Chevy Master De Luxe. The house is a stunning recreation of the 1930s. From the vintage record players in the parlor to the wood-burning stove in the kitchen, no item is out of place. Sheep and chickens roam the fields behind the barns and the birdhouses near the pond ensure plenty of wildlife at the park.

Interpreters dressed in full 1930s garb deepen the experience and provide context for the many historical objects located on the farm. Except for the 1890s white barn, most of the structures at Gallant Farm are not particularly old, but they are full of local treasures. Many of the objects found around the property were donated and once belonged to the families of Troy Township.

The Delaware County Preservation Parks purchased Gallant Farm with a grant from the CleanOhio Fund in 2003. The goal of the park service is to preserve Delaware County’s natural and historic features. Opened in 2012, Gallant Farm helps the parks service achieve both objectives.
